QUEVEDO-FLORES, Jorge. The Strategic Association as a New Element of Exterior Action of the European Union. CONfines relacion. internaci. ciencia política [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.27, pp.68-92.  Epub Jan 27, 2025. ISSN 1870-3569.

Strategic Partners are a new legal instrument, now incorporated to the rest of tools in foreign policy matters and its objective is to improve its presence in the world. The strategic associations were in use as a more political instrument on having indicated that the world challenges should be faced with his key partners across associations with other agents or key regions in the world. The European Union has decided to integrate this new element to its external action without being clear about what its significance and repercussions will be. This has generated criticism among a great number of countries at the international scope who question the validity of such strategic associations in its external action.

Keywords : European Union; exterior action; strategyc partners.
