Abstract

Mercosur has existed for more than a quarter of century, appropiate reason to attemp an analisys of its scope. The present paper analyses some of its main economic features, related to asymmetries, commercial exchange and investment flows, on statisticual data basis that cover the period from 1991 to 2015. It is argued that Mercosur has not altered the condition of dependence of the associated countries, main restriction to its development possibilities, allowing instead to consolidate the sub-imperialist character of Brazil.
