Pluralist arguments for the inclusion of minorities are viewed as achievements of liberalism as a philosophy and of liberal democracy as a political system. At the same time, it is possible to identify a deficit in the discussion of alternatives that proceed from non-Western philosophies to include minorities. To meet this gap, this paper addresses three civilizational pluralist projects, significant for their scale and specificity: religious harmonism in China, Hindu harmonism in India and pluralist dialogue and respect in Islam. The discussion highlights the trajectories of these examples, the specific contexts of diversity (ethnic and religious) on which they focus, as well as the dialogues established between their contemporary versions and Western principles of inclusion of minorities.
