Abstract

This article discusses the importance of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions adopted by UNESCO as one of the founding pillars of International Law related to culture. The Convention is the first International Law text that recognizes the dual nature of cultural activities, goods and services as having both an economic and cultural value due that they convey identities, values and meanings. At the same time, it underlines the impact of this juridical instrument on the Mexican government cultural policies.
