Abstract

MOLINA ALVAREZ, Luis Genaro. The Dispute for Hegemony: Impacts of Twenty-first-century Geopolitics. Norteamérica [online]. 2023, vol.18, n.2, pp.185-206.  Epub Dec 02, 2024. ISSN 2448-7228.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cisan.24487228e.2023.2.632.

This article reviews the state of the dispute for hegemony between the United States and China, evaluating its geopolitical and systemic impact. The author describes some of the problems of Western capitalism, contrasted with the nations headed by China, in the context of the COVID-19 crisis, and both powers’ response to it. He then identifies the main economic and scientific-technological changes and their effects in the system. Following that, he evaluates the military hegemony between Russia and the United States based on Russia’s special military operation in the Ukraine and China and Russia’s statements about it. He then formulates final thoughts.

Keywords : crisis; hegemony; military-industrial complex; geopolitics.
