The objective of this article was to analyze the persecution of Christianity in the face of religious freedom as a human right in the universal human rights system. Through the application of a documentary-type methodology, it is specified that the right to religious freedom is provided for in international human rights law, however, the instruments for the elimination of all forms of intolerance and discrimination based on religion are pending adoption for their effective implementation. Its effect is the existence of state persecution of people who profess a religion, in particular the case of Christianity from antiquity to the present day.
