In the last years the flows of international trade have grown more rapidly than the world production. The author studies the maritime transport transformations that have taken place as a result of the growth in the cargoes, the greater variety of products and the opening of new markets. Special attention is placed to the new strategies of the shipping companies, the increased concentration of the activity in few companies, the changes in the harbors network and the harbor terminals new strategies.
