ABSTRACT: This article aims to examine the challenges faced by refugees in Brazil and Mexico, as well as the social suffering resulting from human rights violations. To this end, a qualitative-exploratory approach is adopted, based on documentary and bibliographic analysis, highlighting the factors that drive forced displacement, as well as the difficulties experienced by refugees in the countries where they seek refuge. In Brazil and Mexico, despite national and international legal frameworks for protection, refugees continue to face xenophobia, racism, social exclusion, and limitations in access to basic rights, such as work, health, and education, among other difficulties and bureaucratic obstacles that prevent the full integration of these individuals, giving rise to social suffering. In this sense, the results point to the need to strengthen public reception policies and promote awareness initiatives, which are essential to guarantee the dignity and protection of refugees' rights.
