ABSTRACT: this article analyzes the process of creation of theoretical concepts developed by the Czech-Brazilian philosopher Vilém Flusser from the critique of the work of João Guimarães Rosa. The methodology is based on a review of all the published and unpublished texts of the author found in the Vilém Flusser Archive in São Paulo, as well as the critical works on the relationship between the two intellectuals that have been published to date. The focus of the article is on the concepts of “post-history” and the idea of the “new man”, also present in his book Fenomenologia do Brasileiro., and highlights the significance of Guimarães Rosa's work as a detonator of such concepts, determinant in later Flusserian thought.
