Abstract

REANO, Ariana. The Debate on the Social Pact in the Magazine Novos Estudos. Latinoamérica [online]. 2023, n.77, pp.165-184.  Epub Apr 19, 2024. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cialc.24486914e.2023.77.57545.

The objective of this work is to expand and continue a work in comparative perspective that recovers the ideological-political debates of democratic transitions in southern Latin America, thinking of them, unlike the classic works of political science, as a context of debate in the key suggested by the new intellectual history. We propose to recover the debate of ideas in the journal Novos Estudos about how the figure of the pact operated to think about the democratic transition in Brazil. We propose to investigate what is the specificity the “social pact” acquires, what dimensions it incorporates and how it differs from other types of pacts present in other transitional experiences. This will allow us to advance on our hypothesis about the existence of a common political language on which the democratic (re) constructions of the southern cone were thought.

Keywords : Social pact; Democratic transition; Political language; Intelectual debate.
