The aim of this paper is to analyse a corpora of obituaries - articles and notes -published at the Revista de Filosofía, Cultura, Ciencias y Educación. This review was founded by José Ingenieros in 1915 and it was edited until 1929. It was directed, firstly, by Ingenieros and, since his death in 1925, by Aníbal Ponce. We are interested in the people who deserves such posthumous homage (mostly scientists and educators) and in the relationship between those texts and the modern cultural project of the review. Besides, we study the discursive typology of the texts, related to the biographical scripture.
