Abstract

REYNA, Víctor Hugo. On the Margins of the Journalistic Institution: A Critical Review. LiminaR [online]. 2024, vol.22, n.2, e1094.  Epub Nov 22, 2024. ISSN 2007-8900.  https://doi.org/10.29043/liminar.v22i2.1094.

Based on field work in Chiapas, Tabasco and Veracruz, Del Palacio (2024) conceptualizes the precarious hyperlocal journalists that abound in the interior of the states of Mexico and in Latin America as “border journalists”, as journalists who are located on the margins of the State. This definition allows them to be recognized as journalists and to protect them in risk situations. This is a critical review of the book entitled Border Journalism in Latin America: Multiple Violence and Inequalities (Del Palacio, 2024).

Keywords : Journalism; Violencia; Precarity; Mexico; Latin America.
