Abstract
RODRIGUEZ, Adriana; MENA, Abraham and AREMY EVANGELISTA, Angélica. Self-Care in Older Women: The Significance of Economic Autonomy and Support Social Networks. LiminaR [online]. 2024, vol.22, n.2, e1077. Epub Feb 07, 2025. ISSN 2007-8900. https://doi.org/10.29043/liminar.v22i2.1077.
This paper presents research findings that scrutinize self-care practices among women aged 60 to 80, who possess economic autonomy and reside in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas. The study was conducted through a gender perspective within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Employing a feminist viewpoint and drawing upon the theory of care economics, participatory action research (PAR) was utilized to identify, document, and analyze the participants’ self-care practices. The results indicate that self-care practices are influenced by socio-economic status, where women with greater economic autonomy possess more resources to engage in self-care activities.
