Abstract

DE LA GARZA CHAVEZ, María Luisa. Hobbes en Sinaloa, o del corrido como resolución poética a un orden social marcado por la violencia. LiminaR [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.2, pp.168-176. ISSN 2007-8900.

This paper shows how a vein in the production of modern Mexican folk ballad constitutes an innovative, yet radical, course of action against a violent social reality. This social reality has many similarities with the state of nature that Hobbes envisioned as the reason for the first social contract in human history. In contemporary Mexico, where only political failures are found, the only way to guarantee self preservation seems to be poetics.

Keywords : Mexico; violence; folk ballad.
