Abstract

HIDALGO-TUPIA, Manuel; ESPINOZA VALENZUELA, Alberto Benjamín  and  ORNA BARILLAS, Jesús Martín. Influence of Special Economic Zones in the Industrialization of Peru. Rev. mex. econ. finanz [online]. 2025, vol.20, n.2, e1271.  Epub Oct 03, 2025. ISSN 2448-6795.  https://doi.org/10.21919/remef.v20i2.1271.

The study aims to identify and correlate the most relevant intrinsic and external factors of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in relation to industrialization in Peru, based on the perception of professionals and academics in public economic management. Previous modalities of SEZs showed uneven development and limited impact on economic growth. To address this issue, a perception survey was conducted with 212 participants. The results were analyzed by descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Modeling, using SPSS 25 and AMOS. The factors with the highest scores were: regulatory stability, benefits, regulatory stability regimes, and industrialization public policies. In terms of expected results, the promotion of coinvestment, domestic productive linkages and promotion of domestic investment were highlighted. The final model includes 14 observable factors and 3 latent variables, with a significance level of 0.001. The final goodness of fit index (CMIN/DF) was 1.652, considered a good fit. This study establishes a global model on SEZs, their factors and expected results, from the perspective of professionals.
