MASCORRO DE LA FUENTE, R.; DORANTES, H.  e  COREA, M.. Morphology influence over the peeling property in pressure-sensitive adhesives. Rev. Mex. Ing. Quím [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.2, pp.323-331. ISSN 1665-2738.

In this work the influence of morphology, particle diameter and acrylic acid concentration in peel adhesión properties in pressure sensitive adhesives was studied. Two series of adhesives were synthesized by means of emulsión polymerization techniques in a semi-continuous process. The first series was synthesized in one step of reaction for to obtain a homogenous morphology while the second series was synthesized in two steps of reaction for to obtain a core-shell morphology. In both cases the composition of material was 50/50 wt%. of poly(butyl acrylate-co-2 ethyl hexyl acrylate). The acrylic acid concentration was varied between 0, 1, 3 and 5 wt.% in the system. The materials were characterized by dynamic light scattering, zeta potential and transmission electrón microscopy. The results show that when the acrylic acid concentration is increased, zeta potential decreased, reach to the instability zone. The particles with 5% of acrylic acid showed the lowest values. In both cases, the evaluation of peel adhesión showed that there is an increment in the property when the concentration of acrylic acid is increased too. The higher performance was found in the smaller diameters.
