Abstract
RAMIREZ MARTINELL, Alberto and CASILLAS ALVARADO, Miguel Angel.
The actual distribution of enrolled students in Higher Education Institutions in Mexico has reached gender parity, nonetheless, there are still challenges that students of this level need to face. Such as the transit throughout disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and the development of a disciplinary digital knowledge set.
In this article, we present the findings of quantitative research conducted with more than 2 700 University of Veracruz students that in 2018 answered the instrument called “Perception and ICT use”. The main dimension of this research is the digital knowledge set index and for its study, we have built a series of clusters that divide the informants with respect to their gender and relationship to a STEM career. We found that the index of female students of the area of science is the highest of them all that suggests the conquest of one more space in Higher Education Institutions.
