Resumen
VALENCIA FLORES, Abraham O. y ROBLES COLINA, Miguel Ángel.
This article presents an overview of muralism at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), analyzing some of its thematic, pedagogical, artistic, and technical aspects. To carry out his historical approach, three temporal cuts were used that roughly allow us to distinguish the topics of interest; as well as the expectations and symbols used to build an institutional imaginary. Among the themes embodied in the murals we find: the paradoxes of the use of science and technology; the scientific-technological advances of the second half of the twentieth century; the founders of the IPN and the Cardenista legacy; as well as the traditional imaginaries about the homeland and the national identity inherited from the historical muralism. In the same way, there is a section on the IPN Painting Materials Testing Workshop, which had a revolutionary significance in work, technique and discipleship in polytechnic and Mexican muralism.
