Abstract

In this teaching research, we applied a pre-test / educational in tervention / post-test methodological design to teaching organic chemistry functional groups to senior High School students. The educational intervention, which consisted on laboratory practices lasting 1 h, resulted in a learning improvement of 52 %, which sup posed a rise in average score from 5.0 to 7.6 over 10.0, corroborating in this way the applicability of this didactic technique. Additionally, students carried out a survey where they evaluated the influence of this experience in their learning, interest on organic chemistry, and their scientific motivation as positive.
