GIRON ARIZMENDI, Mary Haydee y LEYVA AGUILERA, Juana Claudia. The environmental axis in "La Esperanza" Elementary School: A study on environmental attitudes and behaviors. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2013, vol.13, n.63, pp.117-147. ISSN 1665-2673.
This research explores the environmental education practice carried out in "La Esperanza" Elementary School located in Ensenada, Baja California. The research focuses on the experience impact on environmental attitudes and behaviors. The nature of the study was qualitative and was completed with students, teachers and parents who participated in the project for more than three years. Techniques employed for data collection were semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and graphic representations, which were processed through content analysis. As a result, this school is adjusting the educational process by including strategies, developing pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors. Among these attitudes we can highlight a sense and appreciation for Nature. As to behaviors, living with people and pro-environmental participation stand out. The case may be a reference for the implementation of environmental projects in basic education.
