Based on poems by Antoine Emaz, this article takes a fresh look at the notion of enunciating instance, distinguishing between participating, perceiving and subject instances, and showing that “on” and “that” can signify not only a polycentering of the deictic field, but also a vacillation of deixis, or even its abolition. In the process, collective and anonymous actantial forces are identified, underpinning the whole of egogenesis. The article concludes with a reflection on the enunciative postures that humans can adopt vis-à-vis machines in the case of Artificial Intelligence and “generative media”: beyond or below coenunciation, do humans resort to prostheses? Finally, human-machine interaction can lead to the delegation and multiplication of agents.
