Abstract

MONZALVO-CURIEL, Alicia; AYALA, Paola; MAGDALENO-MORENO, Mayauel  and  SANCHEZ-VAZQUEZ, Lilliana. Educational inclusion of university students with hearing disabilities. Sinéctica [online]. 2025, n.64, e1669.  Epub June 23, 2025. ISSN 2007-7033.  https://doi.org/10.31391/atfh6802.

The aim of this article is to evaluate the teaching practices in the attention to university students with hearing disabilities and to analyze the perception of inclusion from the students' perspective. The research, with a qualitative approach, was developed at the State University of Sonora. Semi-structured interviews with teachers working with the deaf community were used and focus groups were conducted with hearing disabilities students to explore their perceptions of the levels of inclusion at the university and the strategies used to meet their educational needs. Analysis of the data, based on grounded theory, revealed that although significant progress has been made toward inclusion, exclusionary practices persist in the university environment. The results highlight the urgent need to strengthen teacher training to foster a genuine inclusive culture and ensure equitable education for all.
