The article traces the causes that led to the fall of the Berlin wall in November of 1989 in the light of the events that took place then of recent historiographical analysis. The whole region and beyond its confines underwent radical changes. Czechoslovakia was one of the countries that embarked on an economic and political transformation via a peaceful revolution. The article examines its origins, process and consequences.
