Resumen
HERNANDEZ-DOMINGUEZ, Rolando. A Proposal of Translation of Legislative Texts in Force in Mexico to Indomexican Languages, from a Work with Purépecha. Desacatos [online]. 2020, n.62, pp.130-149. Epub 27-Ene-2025. ISSN 2448-5144. https://doi.org/10.29340/62.2204.
Access to justice for indigenous peoples in Mexico involves the translation of current legislative texts written in Spanish into the indigenous languages spoken in the country. Translation is currently characterized by isolated efforts lacking an adequate translation method. The purpose of this text is to present a model of translation to indigenous languages based on linguistic, legal and translation aspects, and to show the results of its application to the Purépecha language. This collective translation was made by a multidisciplinary team to generate a text with relevance in the target language. This implies not only considering the transition from one language to another, but the reconciliation of the cultural elements underlying each linguistic system.
