Abstract

ARTEAGA BOTELLO, Nelson  and  ARZUAGA MAGNONI, Javier. The Current Face of Global Civil Mobilizations. Desacatos [online]. 2015, n.48, pp.74-91. ISSN 2448-5144.

The article analyzes the iconic consciousness of V mask that appears in the mobilizations of global civil society. Extracted from the graphic novel and the film V for Vendetta, the mask condenses the moral positioning against national and supranational power structures, in a double movement between abstract and localized political expectations. It provides materiality to individual and collective rebellion within global social movements, characterized by fragmentation and diversity of demands and expectations. The mask of V condenses references that would challenge power structures from an icon of the world of literary fiction.

Keywords : iconic consciousness; literature; global civil society; rebellion; enthusiasm.
