PEINADO, Guillermo; MORA, Aín y RODRIGUEZ, Lola. The tension between ecodependence and interdependence: exports and labor market in Santa Fe, Argentina. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2025, vol.25, e2114. Epub 13-Feb-2026. ISSN 2448-6183. https://doi.org/10.22136/est20252114.
Society requires materials and energy for functioning and for reproducing itself (ecodependence), but at the same time, relies on human labor to transform all those matter and energy (interdependence). Therefore, the aim is to test the degree of both ecodependence and interdependence of the external sector and the paid labor market in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. Interdependent exports explain the largest volumes; ecodependent exports, the best USD/t ratios. Interdependent activities imply a greater number of formal jobs, but with lower average remuneration.
Palabras llave : ecological economics; eco-dependence; interdependence.
