This paper analyzed the implementation of the Program for the Conservation of Native Maize (Promac, for its acronym in Spanish) and its effects in the Meseta de Cacaxtla protected natural area, Sinaloa, through semi-structured interviews and distance-based redundancy analysis. Agricultural management was characterized by detailing the farmers’ actions regarding native maize, and it was determined whether the program induced changes in the participants’ practices. The results of this research may be of interest in understanding the complexities of generating changes in the attitudes or practices of people who participate in this type of government program.
