Abstract

MARTINEZ-MENDOZA, Eduardo  and  RIVAS-TOVAR, Luis Arturo. Technology Development and Wind Energy Value Chain in México. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2024, vol.24, n.75, e2030.  Epub Feb 18, 2025. ISSN 2448-6183.  https://doi.org/10.22136/est20242030.

The objective of this article is to describe the state of technological development and the value chain of wind power in México. The results show that the country has focused on the expansion of installed capacity through technology importation and has dismissed the development of national technological capacities. The results also show that this policy has favored the development of patents by foreigners and private companies, as evidenced by the patents registered at national universities. The originality of the present work consists in proposing a reconfiguration of the value chain that includes actors within the Five-Helix Model.

Keywords : wind energy; value chain; technology; patents; México.
