Abstract

RODRIGUEZ GARCIA, Hugo Ignacio; RAMOS MUNOZ, Dora  and  RAMIREZ PACHECO, Anabel Alejandra. Infrastructures and territorial transformations in Tabasco, Mexico (1950-2017): an approach from social cartography. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.69, pp.571-601.  Epub Oct 16, 2022. This article analyzes the appropriation of the Tabasco territory, the Grijalva and Usumacinta basins, by the groups that inhabit or exploit it. From a hydrosocial basin approach and through social cartography, our research constitutes a methodological proposal for the analysis of territorial transformations in broad temporal and spatial scales. The results show that, based on the administration of water, infrastructures selectively enable and promote extractive and economic activities, but interrupt cycles and balances in nature and limit the development of other economic activities and social practices.

Keywords : social cartography; knowledge co-production; infrastructures; territorial transformation.
