ARROYO-MINA, José Santiago y RUIZ-CARDONA, Diego Fernando. Subjective poverty and ethnic recognition in Colombia: analysis for major regions, 2013. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.53, pp.87-113. ISSN 2448-6183. https://doi.org/10.22136/est002017686.
This article empirically tests the hypothesis that in Colombia, race has a significant effect on the perception of poverty affecting individuals themselves and how they perceive various aspects of welfare. For this, the National Quality of Life Survey (ECV by its acronym in Spanish) held in Colombia in 2013 was used as data source. The estimation of a multinomial logit model reveals that being Afro-Colombian increases the likelihood of perceiving that the average household income is not enough to cover your minimum expenses and discourages the possibility of perceiving that they are at least enough.
