The aim is to analyze the condition of retirement pensions and the sustainability of the pension system in Mexico. Depicting is substantiated by statistical estimates and indicators. As part of the working frame a recall is that Mexico is experiencing a rapid demographic aging implying huge social, economic and political impacts. The most conspicuous concern is unsustainability of aging and retirement pensions. Retirement pensions have very little coverage, limited to waged and urban workers. Within minorities that do have a pension plan, there is also great inequality. Trying to meet the growing deficit, pensions financing was changed to defined contributions in individual accounts, managed by private administration funds. However, pensions from individual accounts will be unacceptable low. Hence, prospective scenarios are warning serious difficulties for the close future.
