PARDO-MONTANO, Ana Melisa y DAVILA-CERVANTES, Claudio Alberto. Who receives remittances? Associated factors with the reception of remittances in México, 2018. Pap. poblac [online]. 2022, vol.28, n.114, pp.125-147. Epub 22-Oct-2024. ISSN 2448-7147. https://doi.org/10.22185/24487147.2022.114.31.
Remittances are an important source of income for Mexican households and their use is associated to the characteristics within the households that receive them. The objective was to study the socio-demographic characteristics of households and the heads of households that receive internal or international remittances. We performed a logistic regression analysis to identify which characteristics are associated with the reception of remittances; and a multiple correspondence analysis to study the relationship between those characteristics. Remittance reception occurs mainly in households with heads of household that are female, in productive ages that belong to the economically inactive population, older adults, with low levels of schooling; and in households in rural areas, with people over 65 years of age, and extended households receiving government benefits.
