Abstract
GRANADOS-MARTINEZ, Abraham and NAVA-BOLANOS, Isalia. Catastrophic Health Expenditures and Households with Older Adults in Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.99, pp.113-141. Epub May 25, 2020. ISSN 2448-7147. https://doi.org/10.22185/24487147.2019.99.05.
The objective of this research is to analyze the determinants of the occurrence of Catastrophic Health Expenditures (CHE) among households with members aged 65 and over in Mexico. Microdata of the National Household Income and Expenditure Survey 2008-2014 are used to estimate logistic regression models. The results show the higher probability among households with older adults of incurring CHE. The main explanatory factors are related to health characteristics, presence of disability in some of the members of the household with a positive effect and affiliation to health services with a negative effect.
