Abstract

RIBEIRO-FERREIRA, Manuel. Divorce in Nuevo Leon: current trends. Pap. poblac [online]. 2014, vol.20, n.80, pp.193-215. ISSN 2448-7147.

In this paper we present some demographic data related to divorce in the Mexican state of Nuevo León. The data comes from three sources: the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía and the results of two surveys about family and divorce conducted by the author of this paper in 2010. This work presents, firstly, the general trends in the rates of divortiality during the past six decades and the evolution of the ratio of divorces per 100 marriages over the past ten years. On the other hand the paper presents some of the main factors, both structural and interpersonal, related with the phenomenon as well as the reasons referred by individuals in relation with their decision of get divorced.
