MORAL-DE-LA-RUBIA, José. Homosexuality in Mexican youth and its geographical distribution. Pap. poblac [online]. 2011, vol.17, n.67, pp.111-134. ISSN 2448-7147.
With data from the Second Survey on Youth we sought to describe the prevalence of homosexual relations, love and identity, as well as create an index composed of these three variables and contrast difference by geographic region, federal state and population stratum. In a probabilistic sample of 25 630 Mexican men and women from 12 to 19 years of age, the prevalence of homosexual love was 11.5 percent; of homosexual relationships 3.4 percent, and of non-heterosexual identity 1.7 percent. The three variables defined a factor with an adequate internal consistency (KR-20 = 0.61), a base of the composed index, whose distribution was markedly asymmetric. The features of homosexuality were more frequent in the states of Durango, Chihuahua and Tamaulipas. These data show a reality that is here to be respected.
