Abstract
ARIZA, Marina and OLIVEIRA, Orlandina de. Familias en transición y marcos conceptuales en redefinición. Pap. poblac [online]. 2001, vol.7, n.28, pp.9-39. ISSN 2448-7147.
The transformations that have taken place in the demographic regime (such as the decline in fertility, reduction of mortality and women's incorporation into the workforce) have contributed to the gradual erosion of the socio-cultural basis of the patriarchal ethos and the emergence of changing images of women. They have also promoted changes in family arrangements and agreements, and in the way families relate to the State and the economy. This article analyzes the links between macro-structural transformations and the familiar world, and discusses the way these changes have led to re-evaluate prevailing analytical approaches in family studies. It highlights the criticism towards traditional approaches and the reappraisals they call for.
