Abstract

In the historic process that we live, which is known as the "information era", the author pointed out the principal rol of the cities, regards the conditions under development "the new economics" who focus in technological and organizational transformations. In this paper, he summarized what is this transformation and to describe as knowledge economics which is global and organized in network. He also reviews the relationships between the new economics and the different kind of social and institutional process. In this sense, he assumed that cities are key both to produce wealth and to adjust the negative effects from an economy without social values.
