Abstract
CASIQUE, Irene. Trabajo femenino extradoméstico y riesgo de disolución de la primera unión: El caso de las mujeres urbanas en la Región Capital de Venezuela. Pap. poblac [online]. 2000, vol.6, n.25, pp.35-57. ISSN 2448-7147.
During the last three decades, women's participation in the labor market has increased significantly in Venezuela. During the same period of time, the rate of first union dissolution has experienced important increases. In this paper I estimate the effect of wives work on first union dissolution. Data comes from a sample of woman from the Capital Region of Venezuela. The results suggest that wife's employment after marriage significantly increases women's risk of divorce. Such effect seems to be particularly strong during the first five years of marriage, when the likelihood of divorce of employed wives is more than twice the likelihood of non-working wives.
