HERNANDEZ LOPEZ, Elizabeth M. y BUSTOS AGUIRRE, Magdalena L.. Learnings from a Short-term Experience of Virtual Mobility for the Development of Intercultural Communicative Competence. RMIE [online]. 2025, vol.30, n.105, pp.469-491. Epub 30-Mayo-2025. ISSN 1405-6666.
This qualitative research studies the development of intercultural communicative competence regarding knowledge, attitudes and skills by interviewing five students from a public state university in Mexico. As part of the institution’s virtual mobility strategies, the participants were trained in intercultural communication. The results reveal an increasing, although differentiated, intercultural communicative competence, especially regarding attitudes such as curiosity, empathy, flexibility, and knowledge. However, the lack of participants from other countries and of intercultural collaboration during the course diminished its effectiveness as a virtual mobility strategy.
