Resumen

JIMENEZ-VASQUEZ, Mariela Sonia. Leadership and Autonomy. Warp and Weft in the School Technical Council in an Otomí Indigenous Elementary School. RMIE [online]. 2025, vol.30, n.104, pp.191-214.  Epub 29-Abr-2025. ISSN 1405-6666.

The purpose of this article is to describe the role of the School Technical Council (Consejo Técnico Escolar, CTE) in an indigenous elementary school of the Otomí region. It is a qualitative, ethnographic, narrative study, in which the categories emerged through the observation of the sessions of the Council during two school cycles. The main findings, from an interpretative point of view, show that the CTE is a space for institutional development and identity that intertwines, based on a democratic and participative leadership, the teacher autonomy for pedagogical and didactic decision-making and the prioritization of the students’ needs, as well as the link with the community. It is also a meeting point for the progressive implementation of the 2022 Curriculum and for the school’s continuous and intercultural improvement actions.
