FORMICHELLA, María Marta  e  KRUGER, Natalia. Who is Attending a Private School in Argentina? Analysis of Explanatory Factors by Geographic Location. RMIE [online]. 2024, vol.29, n.102, pp.599-630.  Epub 14-Out-2024. ISSN 1405-6666.

Student socioeconomic segregation is one of the main sources of educational inequity in Argentina. The objective of this paper is to study the explanatory factors of school attendance in privately managed institutions at the secondary level. Furthermore, given the differences in the participation of the private sector by provinces, we particularly aim to compare these determinants to identify possible discrepancies related to geographic location. Some evidence was found that, beyond purchasing power, various social, economic, and cultural characteristics of households are associated with the type of school attended. Moreover, it can be observed that these relationships are not totally homogeneous between the provinces.

Palavras-chave : educational equity; school management; basic education.
