Resumen

TANAMACHI CASTRO, Gerardo  y  RAMOS LARA, María de la Paz. The National to Engineering School and the Physical Sciences in de Early 20th Century. RMIE [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.65, pp.557-580. ISSN 1405-6666.

In the early decades of the 20th century, Escuela Nacional de Ingenieros, Mexico's most important engineering school, modified its plans of study according to the nation's process of modernization, and in contrast with other eras, established the physical sciences and mathematics as the cornerstone of training engineers. In this study, we show how physics courses increased in number due to progress in other parts of the world, and diversified as a function of the nation's needs, resulting in a close link between physics teachers and the government. We also refer to the transition from French to U.S. influence in acquiring teaching equipment and material, as a reflection of expanded trade between Mexico and the United States.

Palabras llave : Physics teaching; engineering education; curriculum design; education and government; history of science; Mexico.
