Abstract

FRAIJO SING, Blanca Silvia; CORRAL VERDUGO, Víctor; TAPIA FONLLEM, César  and  GARCIA VAZQUEZ, Fernanda. Adaptation and Testing of a Scale of Orientation to Sustainability among Sixth Graders. RMIE [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.55, pp.1091-1117. ISSN 1405-6666.

The objective of the research presented was to test the relevance of an adapted version of the scale of Orientation to Sustainability, previously validated statistically and found reliable by Fraijo, Tapia, and Corral (2007) among university students. The test was applied to elementary school students through the use of software on the web. The sample consisted of 201 children in the sixth grade, in Hermosillo, Mexico. The results permitted a confirmation of the psychometric properties and thus the viability of the adjustment made to the battery of instruments in their use with children. With the results, the purpose is to generate greater interest in researching environmental education at the elementary level and in using alternative measurement strategies such as information and communication technology.

Keywords : environmental education; elementary education; sustainable development; scales of measurement; information technology; Mexico.
