PENALOSA CASTRO, Eduardo; LANDA DURAN, Patricia y CASTANEDA FIGUEIRAS, Sandra. La pericia de los estudiantes como diferenciador del desempeño en un curso en línea. RMIE [online]. 2010, vol.15, n.45, pp.453-486. ISSN 1405-6666.
This study proposes that within the educational field, consideration must be given to the existence of students with different levels of expertise in the skills and knowledge of the discipline at hand. The idea is presented that novices may require an instructional structure that is more prescriptive in settings of online learning, given their cognitive characteristics. The study compares a group of novice students with a group of expert students in terms of certain parameters of their academic performance in an online psychology course. The results show that the experts are more efficient and effective in the course. The need to consider this type of variables in the design of online courses is discussed.
