Resumen
GUEVARA BENITEZ, Yolanda et al. Nivel preacadémico de alumnos que ingresan a primer grado de primaria. RMIE [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.32, pp.405-434. ISSN 1405-6666.
The objective of the study was to evaluate the pre-academic skills of students entering elementary school. The participants were 262 first graders of a low socioeconomic level in public schools in the state of Estado de Mexico. The examination used was the Battery of Aptitudes for School Learning (De la Cruz, 1989), which was given to students individually at the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year. The result of the statistical analysis corresponds to 50% of the total possible grade on the examination, which may indicate that the students entered with a low level of pre-academic behaviors. No significant differences were found with regard to gender, group, or number of years in preschool, but significant differences were discovered in terms of student age. The article discusses the differences and the possible implications of the levels of pre-academic aptitude.
