Abstract

A floristic study of the municipality of Atenango del Río, in the State of Guerrero, Mexico, is presented. Botanical collections made over a period of a year, supplemented by a literature search and herbarium work, resulted in the identification of 643 species and 349 genera in 95 families. The families with the most species are Leguminosae (96 species), Compositae (75), Euphorbiaceae (42), and Gramineae (29). The study denotes the presence 49 species endemic to the Balsas River Basin that are present in Atenango del Río.
