The implementation of the Sembrando Vida program represents a shift in agricultural policy in Mexico by promoting, among other actions, the incorporation of agroecological practices in small-scale agricultural production. Using a qualitative approach and fieldwork data, this article analyzes how agroecological knowledge and practices have been incorporated into the Peasant Learning Communities (PLCs) in rural localities of Chiapas, Guerrero, and Veracruz between 2019 and 2024. The analysis addresses the incorporation of learning, the work involved in producing agroecological products, and the dialogue of knowledge that has been fostered within the program. This has entailed a significant process of learning and collective work, supported by the program’s operational staff, as well as an appropriation of agroecological knowledge by its beneficiaries.
