This work analyzes the critical recovery that the General Social Systems Theory (TGSS) by Luhmann carried out on General Hermeneutics of Schleiermacher. Our hypothesis states that said critical recovery articulates the categorical system of double contingency and the communication of the TGSS with the hermeneutic circle model of Schleiermacher. To control the articulation and to avoid fallacies or incomplete relationships, we opted for a comparative methodology. The results are discussed in the light of the tension between TGSS and Hermeneutics and the debate on emergentism in sociology.
