Abstract

TIJOUX-MERINO, María Emilia. Children marked by Peruvian immigration: stigma, suffering, resistance. Convergencia [online]. 2013, vol.20, n.61, pp.83-104. ISSN 2448-5799.

The discrimination experienced on a daily basis by the children of Peruvian immigrants in Chile, as a result of the condition and origin of their parents, favors a socialization that fuses the stigma with the desire of integration, configuring thus a particular habitus. From a qualitative work, we preliminarily conclude that the racism included in this discrimination, hinders their insertion, at the same time however, it reinforces their desire to live in Chile.

Keywords : peruvian immigration; discrimination; stigma; suffering; quotidian life; resistance.
