Abstract

The intention of this investigation is to analyze, from the historical and legal perspective, the four participations of Mexico in the Security Council of the highest universal forum. In particular, the benefits and costs that Mexican governments have received, such as the recognition at universal level that the country contributes in active manner with the efforts in favor of prevention, and solution of conflicts and threats for peace, as well as, the temporary deterioration of the bilateral relation with some permanent members of the Council, especially, the United States, during the 2002-2003 period. The periods for which Mexico has been chosen as a nonpermanent member are: 1946; 1981-1982; 2002-2003 and 2009-2010.
